BFN Facade Improvement Program - February 8, 2010

BFN is pleased to announce the launch of the BFN Façade Improvement Grant Program. The Façade Improvement Grant Program is designed to provide commercial property owners/tenants, the incentive to invest in the continued revitalization of our Business Improvement Area (BIA) by providing financial
assistance for façade improvements to their property. The resulting benefits are increased aesthetic contribution to the overall revitalization of the BIA and increased property value.

Interested parties will be required to submit an application form which will be evaluated based on impact of improvement, and the use of local, durable, low-maintenance and eco-friendly materials when appropriate. In accordance with BFN’s “Buy Local”
campaign we will be encouraging the applicants to utilize local labour, suppliers and materials wherever possible. We also encourage applicants to consider “green products” when appropriate.

All commercial property owners / tenants who are located in the business improvement area boundaries are eligible to apply for a grant of up to 50% to a maximum of $2,000.00 for projects related to improvements to exterior architectural and decorative details, landscaping, clean up of the property, signage, painting, patio areas, exterior surfaces, windows, doors, entranceways, awnings and lighting. All projects must result in improvement the physical look of the BIA. There is a maximum of $10,000.00
budgeted for this BFN Program for 2010.

We are requesting interested BIA members to submit an

Register today for the January 27 BFN After Hours at Advantage Physiotherapy Clinic

BFN and Advantage Physiotherapy Clinic would like to invite all our members and colleagues to a BFN Business After Hours at their Clinic on Wednesday January 27 from 4:30pm—6:00pm. Advantage Physiotherapy Clinic is owned and operated by Robert Willcott and is located in the Superstore Plaza at 102 Main Street.

Robert Willcott has been practicing physiotherapy for 7 years. He worked as an athletic trainer for the Dalhousie University hockey team, and spent a few years as a civilian physiotherapist for the Canadian Armed Forces. He has an honours degree in kinesiology from Dalhousie University and is a certified exercise physiologist.

He treats all types of musculoskeletal conditions and injuries including low back and neck injuries, tendonitis, sports injuries and arthritic pain. He also treats work related injuries, whiplash from car accidents and uses such treatment methods as acupuncture, IFC, and joint mobilizations and manipulations.

Also on the Advantage Physio Team is physiotherapist Dawn Mockler with 19 year experience. Ms. Mockler brings experience working directly with runners. Advantage Physio also has Rebecca Wilson working part time, she is a Registered Massage Therapist with 6 years experience.
